Michael Nevins, MD
"Newark's Parsonnet-Danzis Medical Dynasty"

Abstract:

This talk will celebrate the life and work of Dr. Victor Parsonnet, whose 100th birthday occurred on August 29, 2024. Victor is well known and highly regarded as one of New Jersey’s preeminent cardiac surgeons, who pioneered the development of pacemaker technology and performed New Jersey’s first coronary bypass operation and first heart transplant. Later, he helped to develop the da Vinci robotic surgical system.

While distinguished in his own right, Victor is a member of New Jersey’s premier medical dynasty. His grandfathers, Victor Parsonnet and Max Danzis, were principal founders of the Newark Beth Israel Hospital (now the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, a component of RWJBarnabas Health) in 1901. By 2000, there were sixteen members of the extended Parsonnet/Danzis family working at The Beth.

The MHSNJ invites you to attend Dr. Nevins's presentation on Newark's Parsonnet - Danzis Medical Dynasty!
